Gravitational Pull

Sitting on the cliff 300 feet above Lake Superior there is nothing between you and the base at the waters edge. For an instant you feel alive, afraid, human, jittery and small. There is a pounding in your chest. A thousand thoughts race through your brain. One slip and its over. One leap and you will feel the wind rush past as your life becomes untethered to the mortal world you've been part of these few decades. You wonder what it's like to fly like the falcons who make this cliff their home. You peek over the edge for one last look and think of all the people you love and how the pull of gravity over the edge is not as strong as their love for you.
